Advertisements for most job postings in NYC will require a salary range starting in May 2022.

December 11, 2021

After being approved by NYC’s new mayor on January 15th, job postings for positions in New York City will require that a salary range be included commencing May 20th. While it’s unclear whether the salary must include fringe benefits, this marks a sea change for employees in New York. A knock-on effect will be that employers advertising positions as part of the green card sponsorship process will also have to post salary ranges (something they are not currently required to do). This may increase the number of potential qualified applicants applying, leading to a lower volume of labor certification applications.
